Motor Bros
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 30 September 2026
This policy explains how Motor Bros uses the personal information you give us when you use this website, contact us, ask about finance, ask for a valuation, or buy or sell a car with us. It also explains the cookies the website uses and the rights you have under UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
Motor Bros is the “controller” of your personal information. This means we decide how and why it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we use your information, please contact us using the details above.
Please don’t include sensitive information (such as health details or bank details) in your message. We don’t need it to answer your enquiry.
When you phone us, email us, message us on WhatsApp or Instagram, or visit us by appointment, we may record your name, contact details and what you tell us about the car you’re interested in.
If you buy a car from us, sell a car to us or part-exchange a vehicle, we will also collect what we need to complete the sale. This can include your home address, proof of identity (for example a driving licence), payment details and the vehicle’s documents, such as the V5C logbook and service history.
When you send a form, your device’s IP address is checked briefly to stop spam and abuse (no more than 10 submissions in 10 minutes). We don’t save your IP address with your enquiry, and this check is cleared from memory within about 15 minutes.
Like every website, our hosting provider automatically keeps short-term technical logs of visits (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time). These are used to keep the website running and secure. We don’t use analytics or advertising tracking on this website.
UK data protection law says we must have a lawful basis for using your information. We use it for these purposes:
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered your rights and only use your information in ways you would reasonably expect.
Motor Bros does not lend money. If you ask us about finance, we will, with your agreement, pass the details you give us to one or more of the finance brokers or lenders we work with, so they can find finance options for you.
Those brokers and lenders will use your information under their own privacy notices, which they will give you. To decide whether to offer you finance, they are likely to ask you for more information, such as your address history, date of birth, employment and income. They will also carry out searches with credit reference agencies (Experian, Equifax and TransUnion). A full application usually leaves a record on your credit file, which other lenders can see. You can find out more about how credit reference agencies use your information in the Credit Reference Agency Information Notice (CRAIN).
Finance is subject to status, is not guaranteed, and is only available to people aged 18 or over.
We only use your details to deal with your enquiry or purchase. We will not send you marketing emails or messages unless you have asked us to. If you do agree to hear from us, you can opt out at any time by replying “stop”, by emailing us, or by telling us in person. We never sell your personal information.
We only share your information when we need to, and only what is needed:
Our vehicle listings also appear on Auto Trader. If you contact us through Auto Trader, Auto Trader’s own privacy policy applies to what you send them.
Some of our service providers (such as our website host and email providers) store or process information in the United States. When this happens, we make sure your information is protected as UK law requires: either the provider is certified under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or the transfer is covered by approved contract terms such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
We may keep information for longer if we need it to deal with a complaint or legal claim.
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Our website only uses cookies and storage that are needed for it to work, so we don’t ask for your consent for them. We don’t use any advertising or analytics cookies.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |

| mb_admin | Cookie | Keeps Motor Bros staff signed in to the website’s admin area. Not set for visitors. | 12 hours |
Some parts of our website load content from other companies. When this happens, your browser connects to them directly and shares your IP address, which they need to send the content to you:
Links to Instagram, WhatsApp and Google take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply once you are there.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the cookies listed above won’t stop the website from working, though the welcome animation may play on every visit.
Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, so information you send through our forms is protected in transit. Access to enquiries is limited to Motor Bros staff through a password-protected admin area. We only work with service providers that protect personal information properly.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. There is normally no charge, and we will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on your request.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first, using the details in section 1, so we can try to put things right. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and let you know the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator:
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we change how we handle information or the law changes. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
